The President did leave his home for a minute to announce the appointment of PHYLLIS DENIGHT as Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. When informed of the appointment, PHYLLIS said, But, I want to be a kindergarten teacher. Near Chicago the home of DICK SCHERER blew up today. Police have not yet ascertained whether it resulted from a bomb planted by rival gang leaders, or from a still which was operated in the cellar. Today LINDA WILLIAMS, Vice-Pre sident of KAESEBIER, KAESEBIER, 81 WILLIAMS, a fashion store chain, announced the retirement of JANETTE TIMKE as fashion editor. The much-'married JANETTE is preparing for her fifth trip up the matrimonial aisle, this time to Lord Mottlerose of England.
