The mistress of ceremonies was Lottie Homer who arrived by plane from an army camp in Texas where she has full charge of the USO recreational facilities. With her was that famous comedy team Sloter and Lee who had been touring the country with their nationally known radio show. The group was grateful to Wauneta Cunningham who in her role as principal of the school was able to provide for many of the details. Mr. Cunningham when asked to comment on how it felt to work for a member of the family, just groaned. Merle Griffin was congratulated on his teams' winning the district championship. Miss Hartwig had charge of the entertainment which consisted of a recital by her dancing students. She was grateful to have Miss Phyllis Leeds, the renowned concert pianist, play for die recital. The former Joyce Womer has just retumed from South America where she had been doing missionary work among the natives. Mr. James Hoeft was unable to attend because he had to go to Washington D. C., where he planned to take his seat in the House of Representative. Accompanying him was his canpaign manager, Everett Jibben. Blanche Dawson gave an interesting account of her work as technical librarian at Caterpillar. Donna Bailey proudly displayed pictures of her twins, and discussed problems of home making. Kenneth Forbes reported he had stopped at the Runyon farm in his work as a metallurgist, and Willis was in Chicago at the Livestock Show, and asked him to present his regrets.
