SN ii .14 Cfilfifieri caught with the goods un pep assembly GHS's l9S3-54 school year moved off to a rol- licking start with the Homecoming festival, set early in the fall quarter. For weeks ahead of the big day, October 9, ASG groups and organizations searched for THE IDEA, a new and clever float that would fit perfectly with the selected theme, Invasion of Treasure Island. During the few days prior to the Englewood Pirates' actual invasion, students worked madly to build the floats that made the parade the best ever. The gala weekend started out with the parade and the judging of the float entries. First place winner- was Mr. Cumley's group, second went to Miss Woland's, and third to Mr. Faulkner's. ln the after- noon before the big game, the student body swarrned the lawns at the BA picnic. Spirit rose to a high pitch to the tune of Dragnet in the pep assembly. Highlighting the game Friday evening was the coro- nation ceremony. Homecoming Queen Mary Ruth Knespel, accom- panied by her attendants Sue Woodward and Patty Knespel, reigned at the informal dance Saturday night.
