r ,, -'Cf , SPANISH Spanish was first offered in Greeley High School in September 1921 During that year Miss Sullivan taught five first year classes Smce that time the department has grown to the extent that now a three year course 1S given and there are nine Spanish classes under two teachers Miss Sullivan and Miss Phippeny It is the aim of the Spanish department not only to start the students along the way of learning to read write and speak Spamsh but also to give them and ideals of the Spanish speaking countries We hope that with a sympa thetic understanding of the strengths and the weaknesses of another people they may be better able to evaluate our own strengths and weaknesses as a nation It is hoped that after studymg Spanish the students of Greeley High School may be better citizens of the United States because they will be better world citizens Page tu enly sewn I an added appreciation of the commerce, government, literature. culture, ideas 4' ' x ., A .
