Orgz 'zz ' s ' V. ,V fl 'ws rloday the chuldren un hugh school come from eyery type of home un the cuty and from almost every home Greeley has had only a slught uncrease un populatuon un the past ten years yet un that tume the number of pupuls un the upper four years of school has uncreased from 390 to 728 Year by year pupuls have been unspured to stay un school longer Not wuth theur schoolung In 1915 there vsere 50 hugh school graduates un Greeley ln 1925 there were l6l One hundred and twenty nune of the class of l925 entered college When Greeley puoneers buult the Meeker school un I873 and establushed a hugh school un ut ut was the funest un the state In l89'J the Central school became necessary to house the growung hugh school enrollment When the hugh school mowed unto the present senuor hugh school buuldung un 1912 they fulled ut the furst year though yy hen ut was contracted for ut was supposed that the buuldung vuould be ample for at least ten years To make room for Pique su S ,,,,,QL4r3i 4 1 ' B I I 3 I 1 7 5 l . , I . . . . more than ten per cent of the high school graduates in America go farther D 1 1 . 1 I - . l 1 'I I 1 Y . 5 X . 5 D D I Y 3 I Y ' r , the growmg school lt became necessary to make the blology room into two rooms and use the two blcycle rooms for class rooms ln 1921 we sent the nmth grade down to the jumor hlgh school buxldlng Next we added two class rooms ln the hall where the rest rooms for the teachers had been rooms out of the old north study hall The growth ln Greeley hlgh school has been about twenty fxve puplls a year Slnce the College has decided to reduce the snze of the College hrgh school the number of pupxls vtc shall recelve from that school w1ll crowd us beyond our lxmlt For thls reason the Board of School DIICCIOIS IS ask mg for a new hugh school bulldlng large enough to accommodate us for at least ten years and that can be added to as the school grows It wxll be slt uated on the twelve acrt grounds cornerlng on Fourteenth Avenue and Flf ttenrh Strttt luge .stern il- ' 1 , l Then we divided the cafeteria to make another room and made three class . The aim of the Club has been to give r ,, -'Cf , SPANISH Spanish was first offered in Greeley High School in September 1921 During that year Miss Sullivan taught five first year classes Smce that time the department has grown to the extent that now a three year course 1S given and there are nine Spanish classes under two teachers Miss Sullivan and Miss Phippeny It is the aim of the Spanish department not only to start the students along the way of learning to read write and speak Spamsh but also to give them and ideals of the Spanish speaking countries We hope that with a sympa thetic understanding of the strengths and the weaknesses of another people they may be better able to evaluate our own strengths and weaknesses as a nation It is hoped that after studymg Spanish the students of Greeley High School may be better citizens of the United States because they will be better world citizens Page tu enly sewn I an added appreciation of the commerce, government, literature. culture, ideas 4' ' x ., A .
