fultwm, the to af 51.365, fThe Fine Arts Department, made up of music, drama, and art classes, pre- sents a variety of interests in the cultural vein. Heading the list of most active music organizations is the band. Mr. Charles I. Aikey is the director of the band that performs at football games and marches in parades. A special smaller band under the baton of a student director plays in assemblies and at basketball games. Vocal music groups entertain during the year at the junior high schools as Well as at I. H. S. Miss Mary Weaver and Mr. Marvin Eshelman are in charge of the mixed choruses. The Art Department, under the guidance of Mrs. Madge Rose, is enjoyed by students because it brings out individual creative ability. Students may enter poster contests, and Scholastic competition in painting, drawing, model- ing, carving, and leather tooling. Opportunities for verbal expression are available in the Dramatics De- partment. Under the skilled direction of Miss Edith Paul, acting ability is de- veloped in talented students. A fine course in stage production is also included in the Dramatics classes. Although the emphasis is largely on performing and entertaining, the Fine Arts Department helps students to appreciate and understand culture. The Senior Dramatics Class
