Jldifvlzq, the ,tzulu nf ilu: wnllld The river of time flows ever onward into the mighty ocean of history. History is the written record of man's life and prog- ress. It is significant for everyone to have a knowledge of our world today. With the nations of the world in turmoil and confusion, history is playing a star role. The leaders of our country and other freedom-loving countries are turning back the pages of time, trying to avoid the mistakes that were made before. The study of history adds not only to our tech- nical education, but to our social education as Well. It pro- vides for us background material as to how we came to be what We are and Why. Such a course as Ancient History reveals the startling facts of our ancestry. It brings to light the fact that it is difficult to classify ourselves when races were so intermingled. In World History courses, a general study of World de- velopment and the rise and decline of empires is taken up. American History is the study of the development of our own country. The trials and tribulations which have gone with the development of our freedom is realized more when one has a thorough knowledge of our history and the great men who made it. The Problems of Democracy course develops better informed future citizens. The History Department is supervised by Miss Margaret Evans.
