A23 Nnvm SMITH Chairman Ross Br:Nc1-rorr MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT Here comes Robert Meyer to report for the Mathe- matics Department. Hello, Everybody: All of us know that 2+2 14, but how many realize the advance mathematics has made since the world realized this fact. Mathematics has progressed to such an extent that the sub- ject takes on a very complicated form. In fact, it takes trained mathematicians to expound to us the many theories and facts regarding mathematics. It is a subject -:hat requires the student to start at the beginning. There is no half-way mark, because each formula or step is based on the one preceding it. Because of its complexity math is a difficult subject but once learned it is not easily forgotten. The following members of our faculty make up cur mathematics departrientz Mr. Ross Benchoff, Mr. Nevin Smith, and Mr. Ralph Gill- man. Today, expert engineers and technicians can tell you before hand the probable perform- ance of different machines. All this is due to a thorough knowledge of mathematics. As I have already stated, 24-224, but how many of you know that the velocity of an ob- ject is equal to the square root of twice the acceleration times the distance it covers?
