JUNIDR VARSITY FOOTBALL A Junior Varsity team is composed of athletes striving to become an outstanding Varsity squad. This year's JV fulfilled this purpose with enthusiasm and efficiency with four wins and two losses. Starting with a relatively new and inex- perienced group of JVs, Head Coach Gil- bert Justice and Assistant Coach Glenn Miller combined determination and effort to develop a strong team. This year's Junior Varsity was led by running back William Wooden and quar- terbacks Arthur Shepherd and Mark Wil- lard. Outstanding defensive players were Charles Thompson, James Royalty, and Jeff Wyrick. The JV improved with each game. ln Coach Justice's words, The winning com- bination of our team was the precision ex- ecution of a few simple plays. 1 Q its This year, for the first time, the Junior Varsity played two night games, therefore precipitating more enthusiasm on the squad. At the end of the 1971-72 Junior Varsi- ty season, JV sent six players to Varsity: Jeff Wyrick, Burt Johnson, James Royalty, Arthur Shepherd, William Wooden, and Charles Thompson.
