THE ECHO Plans for the T972 yearbook began in June of '71 as four senior staffers, Editor Lynn Cline, Debbie Biondi, Kim Cook, and Kathy Willey attended a yearbook short course at Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C. August 1 marked the start of the year- book ad sales which would provide a por- tion of the financial backing needed to produce The Echo. Promotion and yearbook sales took place in November. The real work began at the beginning of the school year as the staff and pho- tographers proceeded to carry out copy and layout plans as directed and provided by the editor. Throughout the year, the staff strived to iniect originality and creativity in the pro- cess of recording activities and academic programs which would reflect the charac- ter of the school. THE HORNET Change came to The Hornet this year as it progressed from typewriter camera- ready copy to composer camera-ready copy. This improvement was made possible by the loan of a composer, as well as as- sistance from the printer in the use of headline writing equipment and the use of a wax machine in doing paste-ups. The Maryland Journalist, which spon- sors a iournalistic program for all Mary- land high schools, in its November 1971 newsletter saluted The Hornet for its ap- pearance and contents, and in the Febru- ary T972 edition of the Journal, The Hor- net, along with eight other high schools, was cited for outstanding quality of the photography.
