In their final year at Great Mills High, the Class of '71 prepared for a grand exit under the leadership and guidance of their sponsor, Mr. Steve Olczak. Backing the Seniors all the way were their class officers and steering committee. The spirited Seniors climbed aboard the bandwagon for their ban- ner 1971 year. History repeated itself in '71 when Hank the Hornet, originally created Ig by the Class of '68 and later de- stroyed during a Homecoming Game, was reincarnated by Ginny Crum, Cindy Bradley, and Sandy Mims. Purple and white became the class colors, the white Carnation their flow- er, the raccoon their mascot, and Rocky Raccoon their unofficial class song. Their Senior year brought together '71's largest steering committee.
