Despite the disappointment of another losing sea- son, the overall improvement of indi- vidual and team records was an en- couraging factor to the wrestlersl who will be going out for the team next year. Adding to the team's enthusiasml were the results of their participation t in the Prince George's County Wres- tling Tournament on February 19 and 20. Finishing fourth in this tour- ney, Larry Royalty, Bill Holt, and Steve Kish were advanced to the Dis- trict Tournament. Great Mills was proud to be ranked tenth out of about twenty-five schools participating in the Prince George's meet.

Varsity Basketball The Great Mills Varsity basketball team finished the 70-71 season with a 11-8 record. They also took first place in the St. Mary's County- Invitational Tournament, which was held at Great Mills High on February 19 and 20. The Hornets were at an advantage this year with their overall team height, with seven out of 13 players ranging from 6' to towering 6'5 Dave McCulloch. The Hornets ran up a streak of wins over their opponents behind the hustle of seniors Glenn Garner and Vince. Baumgartner, and the shoot- ing of juniors Kenny Grey and Ty- rone Harris, high scorer and reboun- der for the season. The Hornets, filled with drive and aggressiveness all season, rushed up and down the court in front of the largest number of followers in Great Mills' history who cheered them on to victory. The prospects for next year look good as eight veterans will be return- ing. Along with Tyrone Harris will be Preston LeGrant, Roscoe Boggan, Kenny Gray, Eric Herr, Lee Gold- man, Odell Smith, and Frank Clinton. Left: Dave McCulloch jumps for the tip against Thomas Stone.
