Varsity Chorus Under the direction of Mr. Kurt Hauptfuehrer, left, the Great Mills Varsity Chorus spends countless hours training and conditioning for choral presentations performed throughout the year. Concerts at local churches and civic organizations give the chorus members an opportu- nity to realize the benefits of practice and determination. Each year the Varsity Chorus pres- ents a spring and a winter concert to the Great Mills student body. This year's program covered a wide range of music styles: Renaissance mass, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Im- pressionistic, Twentieth Century, Twentieth Century Popular and Negro Spirituals. Also included was a Renaissance motet and a ballad per- formed by the Madrigal Group. Future Nurses of America The Future Nurses of America, sponsored by a former medical assist- ant, Mrs. Mary Pembroke, has been one of the more active groups at GMHS. This year members participated in the Red Cross Blood Bank program and the Free Cancer Clinic held in Leonardtown. During the winter months, the FNA adopted a family and brightened their Christmas with gifts. Adding to their services, 'the FNA began Working at the St. Mary's Nursing Home in February.
