Since then, about five hundred members have been elected to the organization of v hom approximately two-thirds have gone to college. The National organization has established forty Revolving Scholarship Loons with a yearly value of two hundred dollars each. The se loans are available to those members who are in the three upper years of institutions of higher learning. Members of the Society are selected by the entire faculty on the basis of leadership, service, character, and scholarship. The national rules require that those chosen rank in the upper third of the class in scholarship. Five per cent of the Junior class may be elected to membership at the close of the junior year, and ten per cent may be elected during the senior year. The members chosen are supposed to have attained most nearly the fundamental objectives for which a high school exists.
