Mr. DeFord has stood the test of time and has proved himself one of the most understanding teachers and friends the student body could ever desire. His smiling face and helping hand have left many pleasant memories in the minds and hearts of his students. A sparkling personal ity and warm greeting, often along with a little teasing or ioking, has started for us many days in the stride of life. . I In order that we may secure the best from our high school days, these people have in their own ways provided much for our benefit. Whether we are seniors, freshmen, or in the seventh or eighth grade, it takes all of us to make our school . We Look Through the Doorways and find these friends, our schoolmates, going to their classes with always the primary purpose-- to equip ourselves for the furture. Q Q Q . IN MEMORIAM CHARLES TULLIE SIMMONS September 30 1939 August 25 1955 The Lord us my Shepherd, I shall not want Psalm 23 ' SENIOR CLASS As we view the past and the future with mixed emotions. For the last five years we have attended this school with friends and fellow students, preparing for our future iobs or education. Looking through the doorways to the future, we look at our futures with interest and enthusiasm. Some of us plan to further our education through college, others plan to go into the armed forces, and still others plan to start on our lifetime occupations. No matter what our future plans may be, we thank the teachers and principal of Great Bridge for helping us in all possible ways. 3 1 '41 X HENRY ANDERSON JEANETTE BARTON CASSELL BASNIGHT ,vu- .-gg, 3 SWL ANBA N. gytfhwi XTER Y LARRY BENNETT N MYRTLE BRUCE DOLORES BYRUM SANDRA CAMERON JACKIE CAMPBELL JACKIE CARTWRIGHT 19' ws is ,1- cvk MABERL MN M536 Avg REEKMORE 'K' x . This problem was solved by giving a Barn Dance and selling candy. Another thing we found out was Qmuch to our surprisej that we were going to have to take a math exam in the spring. Such trials and tribulations are past, and next year will probably be the last time we will pass through the portals of Great Bridge. Though we may gripe about school work, it really isn't so difficult. Now, as we reach the end of our high school days, we know this only too well. As we look back over our past ears we have a lot to remember Y 1 about Great Bridge. Even so, we are looking toward a future where we can use our knowledge gained in school as a tool for future success.
