FRANK GABEL VIRGINIA I-IANS Secretary Treasurer WINIFRED HANS JOAN BONDURANT Vice-President President nlsrom or sown one emu In the year 1933 in the lirst part of September, a real group of performers came to Holly- wood. This group of performers was the class of 1937. They started out under a board of directors composed of Joan Bondurant, president: Hazel Engleman, vice-president: Barbara Moore, treasurer: and Dan Alefs, secretary. The censors were Mr. Dodd and Miss Allis. The first production by this company was a one act comedy, Prose Preferred with an all star cast composed of Harold Ashpole, Dolores Coyne. Erwin Tucker, Virginia Dodge, Russell Townsley, Ruth Lewis, and Virginia Hans. This comedy was presented before the critics of G.B.H.S. It was a success and the cast gained fame. The Movie Queen of the group was Virginia Hans and the Movie King was Doyle Clarke. They were chosen by the members contracted in the Freshman Movie Company, Inc. The first year in Hollywood was a decided success. Early in September of 1934 the same group organized a new Movie Company called the Sophomore Snappiesf' This time they had as directors Joan Bondurant, president: Winifred Hans, vice-president: Frank Gabel, secretary: and Virginia Hans, treasurer. The same censors were kept. The Sophomores attempted something that had been neglected for some years. They published and financed a school paper called Black Panther. It was sold in every corner of the G.B.H.S. Studio. The idea was suggested and carried out by Rush Barnes, an imported star, who has been of great value to the company. The paper was a decided success and G.B.I-I.S. owes much to the Sophomore Snappies as a result. The Snappies have added much pep to G.B.H.S. as they are well represented in every organization in the school, whether it be pep, sport, religious, musical, or any other organization. The colors of the Snappies are blue and silver: their flower, sweetpea: and the motto, 'iSumma Summarumf' They are just what the motto suggests, Best of the Best. . The Snappies will have gained fame everywhere when they have completed the two remain- ing years in'G.B.H.S. at which time they will leave the direction of their censors and directors and go out into movieland by themselves. -RUTH HULL. 24
