ORCHESTRA With a well balanced assortment of instruments and able musicians, the orchestra has been able to win for itself great commendation in every public performance in which it has had a part. The orchestra had no officers this year, giving its entire time to practice, under the directorship of Miss Speicher. The practices of the organization! were very regular, hardly one re- hearsal having been postponed throughout the year. The orchestra has played in Parent-Teacher Association meetings several times, including the meeting which was turned over to the presentation of the Class Plays for the benefit of the playground. They played at the special japanese Tea Garden, which was one of the features of the P. T. A. Carnival held in early November. The Orchestra is looking forward to another successful year with its wealth of new material which is sure to come in the fall. In April the would-be Sousas gained a new incentive in the form of a new leader-an incentive doubly strong since it presented itself in the shape of Harvey Williams, that man of great renownf, The student body will be delighted if in l929 we may have with us again that good old rousing G. H. S. Band for our pep-pilly' at games. Page Twenty-eight

GIRL RESERVE The Girl Reserves began their busy year with a setting- up week-end at Wildwood Camp near Columbus. Practically the whole club was present for those two days packed with fm as well as study. It is thought that this close contact which each girl had with the whole club, has been the cause of a very successful year. The girls hope they have started a custom which will become a regular feature of the Girl Reserve club each year. Another new feature for this year was the four interest groups: Poetry, Travel, Kodakery and Books. At the Pearl Service. an annual meeting, Dr. Shaw gave a talk and each one of the beatitudes was discussed by dif- ferent girls. The ring service was held in April in which Girl Re- serve rings were given to six girls who had tried during the past twq years, to live up to true Girl Reserve standards. Among the parties of the year were a Daddy-Daughter Supper and a Mother- Daughter Luncheon.
