Senior Football This year ' s senior gators were terribly underrated at the start of the 1973 football season. More than likely this was because the senior team had only four seniors returning from the previous year. Con- sequently the senior gators turned a lot of heads and proved themselves to be a strong team. They, were in first place in the C division until the last game of the season and ended up with a .666% win- ning average and second place. Unfortunately the seniors only losses came at the end of the season when it counted the most. Simcoe edged our gators 14-13 in the second last game and Secord shut them out 13-0 in the last game of the season for the C division championship. With our thirty play- ers returning to the senior ranks next year and with coaches like Bill (Duke) Hughes, Bill Utley, and Roy Fraser, next year will definitely be the year of the Gator. Junior Football At the end of last season it was highly speculated throughout the peninsula that this year ' s junior team was going to be the powerhouse. Then the age change came along. Over half of these fine junior players were now forced to move up to the senior ranks. With less than ten veterans left on the junior team, their hopes were not dimmed. The junior gators went on to win their first game over Laura Secord by a safe margin. Unfortunately, and to the dismay of many, from here they fizzled out. They failed to win a game after their first impressive victory. Without a doubt this can be attributed to injuries and a lack of experience. The junior coaching staff of Tom Owens, Brian Lailey, Neil Smith, and Tim Slack are positive that next year ' s season will prove much more rewarding.
