HOMECOMING QUEEN Karen Oien QUEEN AND ATTENDANTS Lynn Goff, Karen Oien, Sharon Homecoming 1965 Grandin's 1965 Homecoming started with a pep rally led by the cheerleaders Thursday night, September 23. Because of the weather we were un- able to have the bonfire so Mr. Kaldor introduced the football team and explained some fundamentals of the game. Friday morning the seniors put the finishing touches on the decorations. At noon the girls helped prepare the queen candidates, who assembled at Oien's. The boys were also busy getting ready for the game with Wheatland. The time finally came for the crowning of the queen. Three nervous girls and the former queen, Bev Stokke, came onto the field during half-time of the game. After introducing the can- Lynn, Queen Karen, Sh aron , and former queen, Bev Stokke, in front seat GRANDIN GARAGE Grandin didates, Mr. Ahrlin announced the new queen, Karen Oien. Cheers were heard from the crowd as the convertible moved off the field. By the way, we won the game by a score of 42 to 18. That night Homecoming came to its peak with the presentation of the royalty, Queen Karen Oien and her attendants, Lynn Goff and Sharon Satrom. They were escorted by the tri-captains, Larry Schechinger, Terry Meyer, and Donnie Zim- ney. The program also consisted of two musical numbers by the senior girls and a skit, a take-off of Art Linkletter's Houseparty, by the junior class. A rock and roll band from Thompson, the Malibus, rounded off the evening to make a successful third annual Homecoming. Karen, Lynn, Bev, and Sharon await the half-time crowning of the queen HILLS BORO BANNER Hillsboro 35
