j T was our steady level headed quarterback and
he truly rewarded the conhdence placed in him bv his
fellow players with the keen Judgment he always used 1n
calling plays Not only was he good at head work but
was a fast runner
Don played guard Some say his verbal game was as
good as his physical play but nevertheless he was a real
hard hitter Much of the success of the team in the latter
part of the season depended on Don Ile will be back
next year we hope
W hen we heard that Steve would be back with us
this year our hopes soared high for anyone who has ever
heard of Graceland has heard of Steve in the position
of center. Nor were we disappointed for he proved to
l be a bulwark of strength to our lines and when toward
the close of the season, he played fullback, he quite suc-
cessfully held his reputation as a real football player.

THE 1928 FOOTBALL SEASON RESUME l
A l 1
. q H X
LELAND NORRIS ED. TRAVER , l
Captain 1928 Captain-elect l929 l
The 1928 football season was one of the most successful in the history of the Graceland l
"Yellow jackets." This year's squad furnished us always a good hard hghting team that .
succeeded in smothering their opponents in Eve out of the eight games played. B4
There were two high points of the season. The Grst was the defeat of Chillicothe, an old
rival. This victory was the Hrst to be won from Chillicothe by Graceland in many years. '
The second high point was the Homecoming victory over Missouri Wesleyan. This contest N
was a characteristic Homecoming battle and, what's more, it marked the only defeat that N
Missouri Wesleyan had this year.
More power to the "Yellow jackets!"

Bill was truly a "Captain Courageous." He was one of
the lighter men on the team, but he played one of the
"flghtinest" positions He played at wing back the
stellar part of the season and from this position opposing
tackles and ends became acquainted with him in 1 rough
way This year was Bill s last at Graceland
Propst was small but he was good He could alvx ays be
relied upon to play hard be it in a game or at practice
and the men who played against him learned to respect
his work in the position of halfback Here IS another
man we are sorry to lose
Rusty came to the game late in the season but it
didnt take him long to get Whipped into shape and
when he did Well it was just too bad for Graceland s
opponents He played the stellar role of the season at
halfback but for such superb playing as Rusty s little
need be said Be it sufficient that we will miss him badly
