zations of the College lt renders a marked service to both the church and the
'Vhss Carlile the director is very efficient in choral conducting Much of her
success is due to her pleasant manner and charming personality
The zeal and interest found among the members is remarkable though partly
due to the excellent cholce of a variety of numbers
This fall the Oratorio Society gave a secular concert as a Lyceum number.
Some of the numbers used were: The Sweetest Flower that Blows by Hawlsy'
Song of the Marching Men by Hadley' Thy Beaming Eyes by McDowell'
and the old favorite Bridal.Chorus from Rose Marie. Several other choir
numbers were rendered by a male chorus the A Cappella and a ladies quartet.
The Armistice Christmas and Easter seasons were tittingly enriched with selec-
tions by the Oratorio Society in memory of each occasion.
The most outstanding work of the year, however, is the rendition of the "Mes-
siah," by Handel. This year will be the first in the history of the Brick church
when an oratorio has been given with orchestral accompaniment. Mr. Anthony
and his orchestra are planning to accompany the Oratorio Society. The soloists
for this performance are: soprano, Lena Walls jonesg contralto, Frances Hatchg
tenor, George Anwayg and bass, Arthur Oakman. We are very fortunate in hav-
ing these people to sing these roles.
At graduating time the Oratorio Society always assists in the activities, and
they are planning to do as much this year.
