As the Outdoor Recreation class
ventured off on their Labor Day
Weekend camping trip, they soon
discovered they were in for more
excitement than they had bar-
gained for. Their experiences in-
cluded strapping backpacks on
soft shoulders, crawling up the
green wooded hills of Indian
Caves Sta te Park, and consuming
the best greasy pancakes ever ea-
ten. Many were tempted to think
as Kelly Mallory, "What am I do-
However, after surviving the

Freshmen Orientation means a time of meeting
new people and new challenges, and getting ac-
quainted with college life. Amid the hassle of moving
and getting settled in, came special meetings, en-
trance exams and, for a change of pace, the freshmen
picnic, held at Hanscom Park.
Early in the year, the freshmen suffered a humiliat-
ing initiation by the upperclassmen who forced them
to wear pacifiers for an entire day. However, they
soon put this humbling experience behind them and
became an indispensible part of life at Grace.
Spiritual Orien tation involved a series of thought-
provoking lectures by Curt Lehman, a pastor from
the Berean Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He empha-
sized quality Christian living and challenged us to
excel even more in the upcoming year.

The first social event of the year, the Fall
Picnic, began at Spring Lake Park with re-
creation, fellowship and, of course, food. A
time of entertainment followed in the school
cafeteria, including skits by various halls and
a showing of the film, "Touch of the Master's
Hand." The evening concluded as each par-
ticipant created and devoured his own sundae.
