hristian Service Sunday school, children 's church, nursing homes, Awana . . . the list goes on,' these are just some of the opportunities for service that are available. Through their C.S. assignments, stu- dents learn leadership, responsibility, and pa- tience. They also get the chance to take some of the head knowledge they've acquired in class and apply it 1'n an actual ministry. This gives them practical experience for future roles they may be required to perform. For the freshmen, their Christian Service orientation class intro- duces them to the different types of service pos- sible and how to go about them. 16 Activities

ri en ta tion Freshmen Orientation means a time of meeting new people and new challenges, and getting ac- quainted with college life. Amid the hassle of moving and getting settled in, came special meetings, en- trance exams and, for a change of pace, the freshmen picnic, held at Hanscom Park. Early in the year, the freshmen suffered a humiliat- ing initiation by the upperclassmen who forced them to wear pacifiers for an entire day. However, they soon put this humbling experience behind them and became an indispensible part of life at Grace. Spiritual Orien tation involved a series of thought- provoking lectures by Curt Lehman, a pastor from the Berean Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He empha- sized quality Christian living and challenged us to excel even more in the upcoming year. ,V.V W- ff,f f- f I ,. ,, I VV -, I . if f My X M ffiw f X la. ffm. i 18 Activities 1 f iii ,mf
