The MOO The Moody Kent Prizes are given annually to those students throughout the school, graduating senior or underclassman, for outstanding achievement in the various academic departments. No more than one prize may be awarded to the same student. Department Chairmen presented the awards. ENGLISH - Mr. Rowe's com- ments included remarks on her reading, writing, support of younger writers and her demanding editorship of the Governor as well as her vitality, warmth and idiot laughter. CHRIS MARSHALL CHANCE SCIENCE - Mr. Miller described the quintessential student who had garnered nearly a straight A average while undertaking five science courses at the Academy S USAN L YNNE EDELSTEIN FRENCH - Mr. Baratell noted the exceptional ability to write pure, idiomatic, and error free French. VICTORIA MARGARET de LISLE GERMAN - The winner's enthu- siasm and fine feeling for literature which enriched the experience of the entire group were mentioned by Mr. Baratelli. PETER DENNIS CONDON 20 DY KENT PRIZES The Thorndike Hilton Cup and medal are awarded each year to the ranking scholar in the senior class. She is disciplined, with conscien- tious commitment, with course prepara- tion nearly flawless, unsurpassed. Near the top throughout her career at Governor Dummer and finishing her senior year as ranking scholar - S USAN L YNNE EDELSTEIN MATHEMATICS - Mr. Casazza spoke of her success in the math courses she studied at the Academy, including three honors courses and of her exalted 800 on the College Board Achievement Test. JESSICA ANN GOULD HISTORY - Mr. Williams re- marked of the true intellectual curi- osity and incredible high personal standards which complimented the deep interest in the study of history of GEORGE PERICLES HA SAPIDIS LATIN - His diligence, dedication and generosity as a tutor were noted by Mr. Baratelli as he awarded this prize for the second year in a row to- JEFFREY PETER KELLY SPANISH - Mr. Baratelli noted the extraordinary interest in the study of the language and literature of - SARAH ELIZABETH SOULE ART - For demonstrating the ability to see clearly, to think creatively and to communicate effec- tively, Mr. Stowens awarded this prize to - LISA DEMERI

His ability to ask the right questions at the right time should stand the winner in good stead. SEAN PETER FLEMMIN G ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARD Given to that student who has shown community spirit and concern within the Academy during the senior year. SEAN MAHONEY CUMMINGS PRIZE Awarded to a student who has shown perseverance, hard work, and good spirit in contributing to the welfare of the school. DINAH CAROLINE DALE Y THE THESPIAN Awarded for meritorious work in the field of dramatics, for inspiring participation, providing leadership, and developing theatrical knowledge and abilities. CHRIS MARSHALL CHANCE The second place winner was merited for his ability to share his humor with others. JAMES DOUGLAS KIRK The third place winner has illustrated her ability to overcome disappointment and demonstrate her devotion to the school. KA TE MICHELLE KAPLAN GAF FNEY PRIZE Awarded to that senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, has been most considerate of the rights, opinions, and sensibilities of others. CHRIS MARSHALL CHANCE THE BARRISKILL Awarded annually to that member of the senior class who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of music at the Academy. JONATHAN BRUCE SHAIN THE MERCER ART PRIZE Awarded to a senior with excep- tional creativity and originality who has completed all available Studio Art and Art History courses with honor grades.
