Using his English classes as a backdrop, he has expressed the need for students to discover, through literature, where they stand. For forty-four years he has been ready and willing to support the athletic teams, to help with projects, or to simply converse on a diversity of topics from backwoods lore to a scholarly discourse on philosophy.
