This year good old Lang Gymnasium became brand new Schu- mann Science Center. The new building allowed the Governor Dummer Science De- partment to operate much more in a college preparatory manner. Instead of science class- es meeting five times a week with two double period sessions, they now mel an average of four times a week for lectures, with labs on Wednesdays or any other free periods which the student might have during the week. In this manner the burden of a double period was relieved from the backs of both student and teacher without sacrificing the course. 4' l

The institution of Junior-Senior dormito- ries was but another major change in school life this past year. Most people seem to feel that they worked better than expected. At first Seniors felt it a travesty to have Juniors interfering with their holiness, and Juniors seemed to feel reluctant to be constantly trod- den upon by their upper classmen, Soon near- ly all distinctions were forgotten and it began to appear that Governor Dummer had now only three classes, Freshmen, Sophomores and Junior-Seniors or Senior-Juniors, which- ever the case may be. Junior-Senior dormito- ries were an overriding factor in breaking down the distinctions of class which were always a sorry aspect of Governor Dummer life. 2 IJ!! 3 , 2 's SJ. v I ' ,t i x, , xv xx . xx X 1 ......- ,fv- 1 ,ii U . f , ' , n A gf .,,- i . -ull- i 5 Ili ,A- F'-. This year, more than in years past, the Governor Dummer students were working in and with the com- munity. Not only did student interest in the community increase this year, but also inter- est inthe school itself increased. This year the Debating Club, dead for many years, was resurrected on student interest alone, and will now probably be around for many years to come. li .NY Q
