Candlelight, flowers, and robes all help to add that special touch at National Honor Society in- ductions. Twice a year, senior and junior stu- dents receive the highest honor of the school. The society also holds a book sale each year that keeps its treasury in the black. The most familiar duty of the members though, is to deliver the New York Times each day, the print wears oH' their hand by second period. The activities of the club are directed by Mr. C. Robinson. The Debate Club concentrates on National Fo- rensic League procedures. Membership in N.F.L. is granted as recognition to students for achieve- ment in the field of speech and debate. Here, parliamentary procedure and debate technique is stressed. The debate team visits other schools for tournaments and Congresses to debate the topic for the year: Resolved: that nuclear weapons should be controlled by an international organ- ization. tereszf A newspaper with emphasis on math is tl1e Gov- ernor Livingston Highland Calculator. Mr. George Mackrin is the teacher-supervisor of this interesting publication. Articles in the paper in- clude interviews of teachers, math puzzles and problems, and a roving reporter section. Another highlight is the math honor roll, in which stu- dents gain recognition for superior work in math. A creative writing club headed by Miss Hig- gins in which students are able to express them- selves through poems, essays and compositions is the Scribblers Club.
