The Swede Breeze staff, with a nose for news and an accent on keeping the readers happy, devoted all its efforts to publishing an interesting, readable paper. This mimeographed bi-weekly kept the students informed about news and views, sports activities, and the latest gossip about GHS. Money left from the sales of single copies of the paper was kept in circulation by the staff, who borrowed nickels to buy cokes, and paid back the change box the next day l?i. The high cost of living had its ettect on the Swede Breeze, too, for there wasn't enough money in the budget to have the paper printed. The staff's worries ended, however, when a new mimeo- graph was purchased by the school. Much of the credit for the popularity of this year's Swede Breeze goes to the efficient staff and C. E. Farnham, who acted as handyman, instructor, and advisor.

ANNUAL Soon after Shirley Mead was named editor-in- chief of the 1951 Svenskarnes Ars Bok, work was started to bring the students of G.H.S. a bigger and better annual than in previous years. Working from the angle that more pictures and less copy make a better year book, photo- grapher Patsy Johnson shouldered the shutter snap- ping burden. Svenskarnes Ars Bok finances had a rough year. A magazine selling contest was sponsored by the staff, but only a small amount of cash was netted for the annual. More successful financi- ally, however, was the box supper and dance pro- moted by Marilyn Christensen, business manager. These ventures coupled with the long hours of so- liciting by Ramona DeFruiter, advertising manager, saved the staff from financial embarrassment, and made possible the publication of this year's annual. Disconnected features and names of seniors presented a problem to Janet Quinn and Lorraine N i 1 I h . J .51 STAFF Curtis Names and faces of the juniors were joined by Marilyn Stevens and Ema Jayne Norsworthy. The seniors cf 1953 were sotted and filed by Phyl- lis Aden and Marjorie Franzen. 1954 wheels to lie were identified by Arlene Block and Jerry Nansel. Margie Peterson and Duane Pramberg eas- ily l-andled their job as junior high editors. Marilyn Kratzenstein did a bang up iob in her capacity as circulation manager. Marcia Zorn demonstrated her artistic talents by designing the cover for the annual. Easily recognized by their grey hair and haggard looks as deadlines drew near were activ- ities editors, Janet Schriver and Elaine Broadbent, and sports editors, Norman Mann and Jearold Nick- erson. Completed and published it is your 1951 Sven- skarnes Ars Bok, but several months ago it was only folders crammed full of pictures and papers. The group was sponsored by Mr. Charles E. Farnham. i . ,In FN
