The working body The Physical Education and Health department put a strong emphasis on attitudes toward fitness this year. PE students were given a variety of activi- ties to participate in, while health classes promoted the same fitness ideas in a classroom setting. PE teacher and athletic trainer, Mr. Don Ogle commented, The students were exposed to many different activi- ties that promote fitness and leisure activities. The students attitude to- ward fitness is a big concern to the department. We as teachers constantly stress the attitude and reality, of a life- 28 Health time of fitness. In the freshman health classes the students were taught the body's make- up. They were taught where the bodyis glands were, where muscle reactions originated, and how the bodies nerve cells differed. Elsewhere, in Effects class, the stu- dents learned how different drugs af- fected the body's systems. The stu- dents gained first hand knowledge by having guest speakers talk to the class on the physical and psychological af- fects that drugs have on a body. fby Craig Showalterl I as Q 4. .4 cn' Y Miss Dori Keyser answers a question directed at her from a student in one of her freshman health classes.
