Student Travel for Stud Students travelled through America and into Canada as part of their studies during the year, The jazz band. marching and concert bands. and the junior-senior choir travelled to Florida over spring break in order to take part in the Contest of Champions Spring Fling, The jazz band received a second place in a field of approximately' ten bands. The concert band received a first place tro- phy. and all other performing groups from Goshen received high scores. When not performing. students went to famous sight seeing places including the Epcot Center. Walt Disney' World. and Wet and Wild. Besides the contest performances. the marching band did a guest performance at Epeot Center. English students travelled to the Shake- speare Festival in Stratford. Ontario. Can- ada. via chartered bus to see several plays. They viewed Macbeth and As You Like It as a group and also had a choice of seeing ' 'ann' .J v '- --' three other plays. When not watching the well produced plays. students were able to visit the many' intriguing shops in Stratford surrounding the Festival Theater. Students also enjoyed visiting the diverse restaurants in town. Biology students again make the annual Florida. to study' ma- trek to lslamorada. rine biology in the Florida Keys. After the long chartered bus ride. stu- dents settled into eating and study groups and began their work. The vigorous study' of all types of marine life included trips to lagoons. shore lines. rocky coasts and chan- nels. Students had a busy week observing and collecting marine specimens which they re- corded in a project notebook for their grades. Julia Friesen and Beth Bargtel study some ofthe specimens they collected in the water on the ma- rine biology trip to Florida. Students listen as Xlr, Gary Weaver gives a lecture during the marine biology trip.
