FRESHMAN HISTORY The fall of 1946 found fifty-five freshmen drawing plans for a hazardous flight of four years length in the Gorham Community High. After several days we decided we needed someone to head our class in educational and social matters. so we proceeded to elect officers. They were as follows: President ------------ ---- B etty Russell Vice President ------------ --- Norma4Vasquez Secretary and Treasurer -------- Ruth Jarrett Sergeant of Arms ---------- --- Betty Bellmer Jack Brown Jnder the care -of Miss Henson and careful attention of our upperclassmen I not knowing what to expect nextl we started on our journey. During the first part of our flight we had an initiation plan- ned for us, to test our wits, and provide entertainment for everyone. As we flew along on our flight, we picked up two more pass- engers, making a total of fifty-seven passengers on our journey towards education. Some of our crew members were interested in athletics so several of them have taken part in our baseball and basketball teams. The first event was a truck hayride to Riverside Park. Inclu- ding guests, there were forty present. Plans are being made for a roll- er skating party. We hope to continue our flight for the next three years. BY Norma Jean Vasquez
