SENIOR HISTORY lt was not so much the nice sunny, September morning in 1943 that made G.C.H.S. be so very much alive and eager to begin in the school year. No, you see, this particular morning marked the beginning school days of about 38tFreshmen. If one would look around and remark about something about the green Freshies and some-Freshman overheard it, nothing was said in response, in fact a bright, friendly smile was flashed in the direction of that grown up upper classman as much as to say, We're not as green as some people think we arep. Perhaps these friend- ly smiles and greetings of the Freshmen of '43, now the Seniors of '47, were the characteristics which won the friendship of everyone. Now all Freshmen classes are not so dumb, and this particular class proved it when they elected their class officers: President-Edris Jarrett, Vice President-Bob Knoke, Secretary-Charolette Lunsford. The most outstanding activity was the combined Freshman-Sophomore hay- ride, which started more than one new romance. The second year of our high school Work was started with a feel- ing of being much more capable and efficient in our Work. The following class officers: President-Bob Knoke, Vice President-Edris Jarrett, Sec- retary-Charolette Lunsford. Even though we were older and felt so much more grown up, we were sorry to lose about fifteen of our class members, The Iunior year of any class makes them perk up and take an inter- est in everything, encluding extra activities. For instance there was the Junior-Senior banquet at Giant City Lodge, Ah, to think back on that exciting night---rain and everything. The hall was beautifully decorated by our sponsor, Mr.. Sabella, and six helpers. The members of our class had decreased until only 22 members were left. We were still not discouraged and the following officers were chosen to guide us through a successful year: President-Ralph Twenhafel, Vice President-Robert Knoke, Secre- tary-Dean Hindman. Now we are up to the present date and we are the Seniors of 347- Looking back over the pleasant yearscdfstudy and play, time seems to have flown away. We are still that happy-go-lucky gang of students. At the beginning of school the following officers were chosen: President, Kenneth Rohlfing, Vice President, Sonia Rednour, and the Secretary, Eilene Mezo- Two Sgt. of Arms were also elected-Clarence Christensen, and Ralph Twenhafel. We have had several activities thus far and one, our play Toby' Helps Our was very successful. We operate a candy stand to make money to buy something to leave to the school after we graduate. As the year is slowly declining, We the Senior class, feel somewhat sad to think of leaving our old school and so many good friends. It seems time has gone by so quickly we hardly know any of our friends too well. To the underclassmen'-we .want to leave this shinning reminder--0 Keep on smiling, kids, as you plug along, for in just a short while, you too, will be Seniors. , ------Eilene Mezo 1
