' 'Teen-Age Book Club One morning, Miss Henson rather doubtfully, presented some literature on the Teen-Age Book Club to the Junior class. After read ing and discussing the literature, we finally decided that 2542 for a book wasn't too much to deduct from our weekly allowance. Sixteen boys and girls joined t.hat morning and have been enjoying their books emmensely. As the club grew the students of other classes became inter- ested and now our club membership is 110. Friday February 28, the sixteen charter members met and set Thursday March 6, as the day for initiation of all new members. The y were required to dress to represent a character from sone book, play, poem or comic strip they had read. Many famous characters were rep- resented such as Little Red Riding Hood , '6Popeye , Dagwood , Huckleberry Finn , Little Black Sambo , '6Tom Sawyer?', and many others. From these the judges chose Jeanne Smith dressed as Popeye and Martin Shields dressed as 'GDagwood as the winners. Each was presented a book from the club as a gift for their efforts. For every four-books purchased the company presents one free book, thus keeping the interest of the student. The following students were elected as officers of the club. President ............................ Bill Schimpf Vice President ...... ..... B ert Clendenin Social Secretary ....... ..... I lene Kloepper Business Secretary ...... . ....... Doris Moureau By next year our club should be in full swing and if it continues through the future years, of G. C. H. S. we hope the students will remembe the Iunior Class of 1946-47 and our sponsor, Miss Henson, for starting this grand organization. BY Ilene Kloepper I'

The winning girl receives proper recognition the award de- pending on travel condition at the time Continental Congress is held. ---Norma Cluster HOT LUNCH PROGRAM We are proud to again be able to offer got Lunches to the students. We now have our own cafeteria this year in the basement of the school. Many improvements have been made and we think it is in pretty ship-shape condition. Mrs. Foncree is again our cook. We feel that she is doing a splendid job. Two students help her each period of the day. Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to raise the prices to 15 cents per day. Fortunately this doesn't seem to de- crease the number of students eating daily. ---Ramona Foncree
