GORANNUM The majority of the annual' staff was chosen from the commercial classes. As a result the planning, arrangement. and typing and stencil cutting were carried out as a unit of work by the students of Typing II. These staff members are: Jewell Cluster, Norma Lee McLaughlin, Cecilia Brush, Doris Jean Korando, Alice Reid, Alice Born, Louise Schaek, Edna Mae Saul, June Kempfer, and Fern Arbeiter. The Typing I girls who assisted were: Betty Lou Brown, Lucille Koch, Ruby Manken, Peggy, and Kathryn Clendenin. All of these served in different capacitiesg for instance, several of them wrote special articles. A I Other members of the staff not in the commercial classes who wrote articles which contribute much to our book are: Tillie Jo Hiser, Marjorie Lunsford, and Paul D. Baggett. Bob Crain and Jr. Lunsford executed the drawings and lettering. They were assisted by P. D. Baggett. Our busi- ness manager is Donald Schilling. Our theme is international in character. Our book is dedicated to the armed forces of the HBig Fouru--the United States, Great Britain, China, and Russia. lThe entire staff consists of the following: Editor ------ f--- Business Manager Art Editors---me Literary Editors Sports Editor--- Feature Editors- Alumni Editor--- Tycists ------ -- Printerse--- Adviser---- -------Louise Schack ---Donald Schilling ------Robert Crain 'Owen'Lunsford ---Tillie Jo Hiser Peggy Clendenin ---Paul D. FOUNT!-XIVXI WStory Weathern might be a good appelation for the activities of the Fountain this year, for such has been its career. With the shifting of teachers, schoolbegan without a sponsor for the unrest news bringern. Miss Henson was finally chosen to direct the staff and quite late in the term the organization got under way with Marjorie Iunsford as editor-in-chief. Wilbur Clendenin imWGdlQt6iy launched into his campaign of business man- ner and did a very cspatle job of getting a long list of subscribers. Pencils and typewriters began tofly and work began in earnest. Then came illness, interruptions, delayse--,the Fountain bogged down. Eventually thelight began to gleam, and the crowning glory was the Review Issue. May the Fountain have a happier future in the years to come! MERIT SYSTEM With the help of the Faculty and Student Body, 'we feel that our new Hwerit and NDemcritnSystem, adopted last year, has accomplished something for the good of students as well as to better the school. For ccmmendd able and recognized activities, the students are given merits in accordance. At the end of the school year the merits for each student are added. Those having the highest number of msrits C102 of our student bodyb re- ceive an intellectual letter, G. We think of our 'mwn school as a Governmental unit with our own laws. For a violation or disregard of any of these laws, an of- fender is penalized with demerits. We have clerks and each merit or demerit a student receives is kept on re- cord. The merits a student receives giveshimencourage- ment. The demerits given makes a student stop andthink the next time, before he acts in an unseemly manner. We hope to see even greater improvement next year. TM
