PROPHECY The year was 1979, when men were mice and mice were men. The Juniors started out for Kansas City to see how the sen- iors were making out. The pilot was none other than Muriel Kranz, the famous lady pilot. She had just set a record of around the world in seven minutes. When we got to the fair city, we saw at the terminal a poster of the fight between Lou Ann Raml, the 'The Killer' and Marilyn Huff, for the heavy-weight championship of the world. We rushed right over to the fight arena, where, but to our surprise, Herman Johnson, the famous cameraman for the Globe, was taking pictures. Lou Ann weighed in at 256 lbs. Huff at 260. Clang, the fight was on. They circled each other like a hungry lion and tiger. Huff rushed in for the kill. Raml grabed Huff by the arm and swung her out of the ring into the lap of a spectator, who, in return, tossed her back into the ring. f'The referee'declared her arm broken and the fight was over. Then we dined at the Club Phillips 66, where much to our surprise, the head-waiter was Bernt Larson. He gave us some tickets and we went to the wild car maniac show. Clayton Kranz was the star maniac. He drove a 1970 Plymouth off a 6FC foot ramp. Johnson was there and took pictures of the event for the Globe. We bought a paper and were startled at what we read. Henrv DeVine, head of the Grave Diggers Association, ordered all grave diggers on strike. The men were piketing a nearby cemetary. The diggers wanted a higher wage of 9100 an hour and better working conditions. We then went to see the Platt and son's Carnival, Mr. Platt invited us to attend his world-renowned show. Harold told us to beware of the pickpockets he employed to get the sucker's money. We went to the sideshow and saw the famous Marv Dailey, sword swollower and fire eater. She ate swords of all makes and descriptions. She could inhale fire off boiling oil, then she blew the smoke out of her nose. Then someone tried to pick Haan's pocket and said Haan NThose who take my billfold take trash.' We started back to Goodwin and the p1ane's jet fell off. So we all had to hitch-hike back to Goodwin.
