First Semester Officers Second Semester Officers On September 26, l952, the Gonzales Chapter 226 C of the California Scholarship Federation held its first meeting, composed of just a handful of students. Officers elected for the first semester were: President, Wilma Macklin, Vice President, Dena Shanks, Secretary, Sondra Gronningen, and Treasurer, Ann Lopes. The membership increased the second semesterand found the Honor Society boasting twenty- three members. Second semester officers werei President, Shirley Bales, Vice President, Don Boysen, Jr., Secretary, Ruth Bornwell, and Treasurer, Irma De Pratti. The activities and highlights this year under the able direction of the chapter's advisor, Miss South, werei two lovely banquets, a profitable White Elephant Sale, the CSF. Conference in Gilroy, and last, but not least, the long awaited Ditch Day. This year four Life Membership Lamp pins will be presented at graduation. The recipients will be Shirley Bales, Lorraine Corda, Wilma Macklin, and Bernette Wimer. Six semesters of membership in the chapter, one of which must be in the senior year, are the requirements for the coveted award, The society's motto is Scholarship for Society and its color gold.
