This year under a new advisor, Mrs. lrvine, and its officers, the club got oil to a wonderful start. One oi the main events was the Girls' League Conference, which was held in Watsoiiville dur- ing the month ol October. Many of the more interested girls attended, and all had a very en- joyable time. Dr. Evelyn Berger, a consulting psychologist from Oakland, was their main speaker. Her topic was Minor Cuts and Bruisesf' Other activities included a Halloween party and a Christmas party both held in the high school gym. A Mother-Daughter Banquet was given in March. All the girls worked very hard to make it the success it was. Their annual beach party was held at Pacific Grove on May 27. Candy and cake sales were staged quite ire- auently during the year, which helped to in- crease the income. All in all this has turned out to be a very successful year for the Girls' League organiza- tion. IDA RUBBO EVELYN CACCIA PEGGY SHANKS President Vice-President Secretary I 1 ' 1 s 15 1 ,Q im 8:9

1 N.-Q LR if 1 Hr-LIFE EDITOR CONCEPCION VALADEZ SPHRTIIII HI-lIFE The Spartan Hi-Life, our school paper, is published every two weeks by the Iournalism class under supervision of Miss South. The purpose of the Spartan Hi-Life is to keep the students informed of the school activities. It is comprised of features, sports, and new articles with per- sonals of high school life that take place at school or that concern the school. The Spartan Hi-Life editor, Connie Valadez, was selected for the year. Last year the paper was published weekly. Each month three issues were mimeoqraphed at school and a fourth was printed in Salinas. This year we were able to have our paper printed in Salinas, by the El Camino Press, every two weeks. One week we work on articles for the school paper, and the following week we study ways to improve our articles, learn new methods in writing ar- ticles, how to proofread, how to interview teachers or new students, etc. We wish to sincerely thank each and every one of our subscribers and ad- vertisers who have made our paper possible. We hope our subscribers have enjoyed reading the Spartan Hi-Life as much as we have enjoyed putting it out. In behalf of the Student Body, l would like also, to thank the journalism class for the splendid school paper they have published for us this year, and wish a successful year to the cominq staff.
