The work which they left and the hooks which they read Speak mutely, though still with an eloquence rare. And the sonps that they sang, the words that they said, et linger and sing on the desolate air. And oft when alone, and oft in the throng. Or when evil allures us, or sin draweth nigh, A whisper comes gently, " Nay, do not the wrong, " And we feel that our weakness is pitied on high. -Margaret E. Sangster The GHS student body was saddened this year by the loss of two students: Jackie Rawls, senior pic- tured left, and Shawn Mcintosh, junior, pictured right. It was hard for students and faculty to realize this kind of sadness and loss during a busy school year. Though two of our students are gone, their classmates, friends, and teachers will always remember them as they were. 50 . . . Slowly but surely each page has been laid out, pictures taken, printed, cropped and stamped; captions written, revised, and typed. Ea -h deadline seemed impossible to meet, but somehow we e seen it through, and now it ' s time for our page to say thank you and good-bye. Our list of thank yous seems endless but we would like lo begin with our advisor, Mr. Heaberlin. We ' ve gotten to know him belter each day. He has always tried to lend a guiding hand and stood behind us through each hectic deadline. Next, Mr. Burrows and Mr. Glass have solved so many problems. Mr. Burrows always gave us the incentive to work harder so we ' d be proud of the product in the end. Without Mr. Glass ' s patience, half of the GHS student body would have never been identified. Enough thanks can never be given to Miss Freeman for the countless times she let us out of practice, as well as other activities, at the last minute. Also, Mrs. Reese was very understanding about the importance of completing the yearbook. Mrs. Denman, Mr. Smith, and Mrs. Zavadil all deserve a big thank you for the support and encouragement that they of- fered us throughout the school year. The biggest thanks of all goes to our parents as well as the rest of our families for putting up with our bad moods, late hours, and for knowing the tension and strain that we were under. Melanie McDaniel and Polly Technik deserve a special thanks for giv- ing up their time to help us on the weekends. During the finalizing of the yearbook Mark Barnett, Cathy Lott, and Steven Bolech put forth extra ef- fort to complete the many needed pages. Our photographers, Clifford Coffin, Vera Lopez, and Christi Burks have done an outstanding job that we appreciate greatly. Also, John Boothe did an excellent job helping us complete our first deadline. We ' d like to thank our representative. Bill Overall, for designing our cover and endsheets. He provided us with great relief when he came through. Now for the good-byes. The last few months of school have rolled around and the final shipment of the yearbook is due. It ' s hard to realize that each page has finally been completed. We realize that being editors of the yearbook has been a great experience, one that we will always remember. Good-bye. Cathy and Karen 232 .. . Endings and blendings san engelo. texas
