The week before Christmas within the halls was a very busy one. Seniors were busy deco- rating their Sr. ' 78 tree and Sr. Alley. Var- ious other students participated in decorating doors for the annual door aecorating contest. Lettermen and the faculty competed in the Let- terman vs. Faculty basketball game. The Band and Choir presented a Christmas concert to the student body. Santa came to Gonzales. Many classroom parties took place. All of these events combined together to produce the Christ- mas spirit at G.H.S. A. Don ' t Be Cheezy?? Students of Mrs. Sandra Dubose created this humerous door during the yule tide season. B. Manuel Olmos lays one up there to get two more points for the annual Letterman vs. Faculty game. C. Santa came to town during a warm December day. D. Ernie Kapavik uses her creativity to help design a door at G.H.S. E. Who says I can ' t be Santa Clause? asks an angry Mark Walshak. F. Seniors of ' 78 help decorate their traditional tree in front of the office. G. Linda Carter and Mary Jane Jackson smile while enjoying a class Christmas party. H. Two library aides help to decorate the library window. I. Even Santa has a band. J. Mr. Glass blocks Kenny LePori from making a bas- ket during the Letterman vs. Faculty game. Cliques Identified By T-shirts Friendships everywhere, not merely friendships among two people, but friendships among small groups, can be expressed by the following poem: Life is sweet because of friends we have made, And the things which in common we share. We want to live on, not because of ourselves. But because of the people who care. It ' s in giving, and doing, for somebody else. On all that life ' s splendor depends. And the joys of this life, when you ' ve summed it all up. And found in the making of friends. Symbolizing the unified friendships cf our times and en- hancing the friendships of certain Gonzales High School stu- dents is the belonging to a particular clique established by the students themselves. Some of these cliques are identified to the student body by the wearing of T-shirts with the title of the group on fron. and the member ' s given name or nickname on the back. Forming in 1975 was the first group to have T-shirts called Bad Company. This clique consists of four girls, Sheila Fehner, Lee Nagel, Bar bara Boysen and Betty Kapavik who have been friends since the first grade. Since their closeness was known to the student body as a foursome, the girls de- cided to identify themselves as a group, and Bad Company seemed to be a good name because the girls have exuberant personalities, but most of all are always full of wit. One- fourth of Bad Company, Barbara Boysen stated, Being able to confide and trust in one another and knowing there is al- ways someone to talk to is a great asset to our friendship. One for all and all for one. MF A. Bad Company is known for being together in the yellow truck. There they are shown kidding around with each other. B. Another group to be identified by T-shirts was the Wild Bunch. They enjoy eating lunch together as well as riding around with the top down.
