As the people were beginning to succeed materially, they were able to give more time to pleasure. Numerous parties, holiday cele- brations, and fairs were enjoyed. During the famous Gonzales Fair everyone quit work one day and had a good time. Also there were the weddings such as those of Ruth Ronshausen and former member Robert Conrad. The year 1924 began with twenty six citizens enrolled, several of whom were not regular members of the colony but residing within its bounds. This year was remarkable for two important wars, the VVar of Vanity Fair being the first. Four colonies participated in this short struggle but this colony whose history I am writing won a complete victory. The second war was with a next door colony over a Lincoln medal The other people were the yictors Considering the fact that these colonists already had lned four long years ln this new world they thought rt time they were granted '1 charter After many months ot hard work, they presented a plan of the sought charter, which was approyed granted, and gnen the ottrclal title of High School Annual Much was accomplished the tourth vear The democratic spirit ot the colony was growing speedilv, as seen from the fact that the council now contained eight members Srrs, Kee Soyars and Ladies, DuBose, Qualls Beach Buchanan, Maddox, and Soyars Only one citizen was lost during the entire year He Feldon Lester, only stayed 1 short while with the settlers So with so much growth good fortune beginning now with a charter we can hope to soon sec this small colony dexclop into a tine state and grow until the re marnder ot the world of knowledge rs settled' Lillian Hinton Senior llnss ln Phsl hindi Llqhteen 1' In ,ay M 'W A2 friday ffvffclemww M W' ly 614 ' if A QV is, V . , ,V ,V V l Q. y V v . 7 H f . .
