Mriss Hermann Class Motto. . . .Live, Love, and Learn; Class Flower. . . .Ca-rnation Class Colons. . . .Nile Green and Peach Now that we are tmighty Seniorst and are anout to graduate, we begin to look way back to 1937, when as meek Freshmen we made our 'debutf After recovering from our initiation and the Erosh Mixer, we retaliiuated and honored tlhe Seniors with a t'Revt-urn deerJ, With Larry Lawler as President; Jim Brooks, Vice-President; Jim I'M'cKenzie, Treasurer; Christine Roush, Secretary; and Miss Smitlh, our ad- visor, we entered a new em of our education. As Sophomores, we were acquainted with the 'daily grind' and were well rep- resented in many of the activities. Our officers for this year were President, Bob Hoffeditz; Vice-iP'resident, Viola 'Oulver; Treasurer, Wayne Spaldving; Secretary, Jim McKenzie; Advrisor, Mr. Smith. Last year when we were Jvunriors, we reached the 'upper classment age. The officers elected this year to lead us were: Art Schuster, President; Betty Vanhoy, Vice-President; Donald Sleeper, Treasurer; Jean M-oline, Secretary. Miss Bryan was our advivsor. As Juniors we displayed our dnamiatic ability in the western comedy 'MtLissJ directed by Miss Tran-tum. The Junior Prom, the other important class event, featured the Trish xShaun-mck.y As 'The Sophisticated ISeniors' we began our final year with a hearty welcome to the Freshmen 'rookies! Next, with peals of laughter which denoted success, we presented tOne Mad Night.' The Senior Ball was the last social event of the year. On Oommencememt nighut, fortyatwo Seniors will file up on the stage to re- ceive their diplomas. Eleven of these students started out in the first grade and continued through the years together. We leave this school with the memory of many happy hours spent in obtaining valuable knowledge anduhaving a twhee of a time? SCHOLARSHIP AWARD The two students who lead their class in grade average are presented the Scholastic Awards. Betty Vsanhoy, Valedictorian; and Franees Lawson, Salrutatorian, represent the class of 1941. CITIZENSHIP AWARD Fnom the leaders of every class there is se'leet-ed one boy and one girl who have been unusually outstanding in their contribution to the school. Competing against Hood River, The Danes, Mlaupin, White Sal- mon, and Dqu-uur, wG'ol-dendale t7inndshed third, with Hood River first and Maupin secrond. One week llater, April 27th, AGoldendlale agatin traveled to Hood River to partici- pate in 4a brhangulaJr meet with Hood River and White Salmon. This week Goyldendale was second, with Hood River again first. The county rbrOvphy, up for permanent possession, sparked the team to an easy victory in the Annual Counaty meet, held in 1G01den4da'le on May 4th. :Goldendale, taking 10 out of a possible 14 firsts, ran up 673 points while 0. U. H. 1S. captured only 36 2-3 points. May 11th, the bhincelads entered the Yakima B meet but were downed by the stmng Grandview team. Eight teams were entered in this meet. Eilrlslt and second place Winners tin .the B meet qualified for the District meet. They were: Jim Bmooks, Jim Zevely, Jack Garling, V. T. Smith, ChlaIrlsire Smith, Jim Trowbridge, and Don Sleeper.
