DEDICATION Dr. Elsie Frances Gibbs has devoted more than thirty-six years of her life to the youth of America through her work in the field of education. She started her teaching career as an English teacher at Washington College in 1922. .After a few years of teaching experiences in the College and at Independence High .School, Dr. Gibbs was awarded her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Chicago in 1929. She receiv ed her Doctorate from UCLA in 1947. Dr. Gibbs began teaching in San Bernardino in 1930, and in 1939 she was appointed Director of Secondary Education. She has developed curriculum units which are now in use in our schools, and she pioneered curriculun for the slower learners--which is considered one of the best in the State. Because of her devotion to the students of San Bernardino, and because of her great interest in Golden Valle Junior High School, we are proud to dedicate this issue of The KNIGHT to Dr. Elsie Gibbs.
