As the homecoming of the cen- tennial year presented itself to us, we witnessed the passing of the Golden Goose, the annual parade through town, and other various forms of entertainment. Homecoming week started off with the Golden Goose, otherwise known as the Faculty talent show. However, not much talent was present. Acts included the B building German Kazoo Band, and the all-time favorite Bessie the Heifer was sung. One must admit, though, that the Featherbrain Twins from the English depart- ment were the favorites of the audience. A new addition to the home- coming activities was the ice cream social, sponsored by Student Coun- cil. Key Club, once again, proved victorious in the second annual bed race. Breaking with tradition, the pa- rade and game were held on Friday night. As the parade made its way through the streets of Golden, ob- servers witnessed an array of floats and the GHS band accompanied by the Tridettes. For the first time in five years, GHS won a homecoming game by defeating Jefferson with the score of 12-7. During half- time Jeannie Oppenlander was pro- claimed homecoming queen. Jean- nie reigned until late Saturday night, at which time the centen- nial homecoming dance was over, marking the end of Homecoming 1972. l 23
