The Demons completed a very successful season, being undefeated in ten conference games, and thereby winning the conference championship for the first time since 1935. In their first conference game, fullback Bill Sarrell led the Demons to defeat Arvada 25 to 0. In its second game the team barely nosed out Lakewood 20 to 6. The score at the end of the first half was 0 to 0, but the fighting Demons came back to score three times in the thirgl quarter. In the next game Golden upset Littleton 13 to 7. With but three minutes to play G-olden came from behind to win. Spieles and Gargan starred in the game. In the next two games the whole team played excellent foot- ball to defeat Aurora 32 to 0 and Wheatridge 20 to 6. Golden started its second round by soundly drubbing Arvada 26 to 0, with Olmstead, Kerr and Barb playing fine ball. For their seventh straight win the Demons defeated Lakewood 31 to 6. In the most exciting game of the season, Golden defeated Littleton 19 to 14. The whole team played stel- lar football with Spieles, Howlett, and Hemberger most outstanding. Led by Carl Ruud, the Demons in their ninth straight win defeated Aurora 19 to 7. Coach Brennecke started his second team but soon found it necesary to substitute his first string, who had difficul-ty managing the stubborn Aurora eleven. In their last game wlich was featured by a 90 yard run by Bill Owens, the team completed a perfect season by defeating Wheatridge 12 to 0. The team feels much of the credit for this successful season was due to the intellegent decisions made by Captain Spieles, as well as his stellar All- Conference end play and to the other three All-Conference candidates, Denver Barb, for his excellent signal calling, and Bill Sarrell and Joe Gargan for their invaluable playing. Credit should also be given to Coach Brennecke and his able assistant Coach Grant.
