As the liirst game oi the season opened. everyone was a little surprised to see the new unil-orms which the team had just gotten. Not only the appearance oi the team was good, hut the squad proved themselves deserving of their sharp outllits hy winning the iirst game which we played against l.ittle Falls High. The next game played with Johnson City, Southern Tier Champs, not turn out as well as our first showing did. in spite ot the teamworlc put forth hy Jaclc Sanford, Harold Brown, and Norm Car- son, G.H.S. was no match for the rugged Johnson City team. At Amsterdam, Gloversville again proved to have a very capahle squad. Vvitlr the passing of quarterhaclc, Jaclc Sanford, and Vvalt lVlcl.achlan and George Cristiano on the receiving end, G.H.S. was ahle to maice two touchdowns to Amsterdam's one. The Gloversville Husicies found them- selves defeated hy only one point in the Norwich game, and then G.H.S. heat Nott Terrace when we met them on our own Field. The next game scheduled was the fa- mous .iohnstown-Gloversville game. Up to this Johnstown had lost every game, hut despite the hard worlc of our team, pushed on hy co-captains Bill Fredenhurg and Ken Benton, Gloversville came out on the short end of a I2 to 6 decision. Even though some of the team were not present due to injuries, G.H.S. put up a hard tight only to go down before the llion squad. G.H.S. Opp. Sept. 31 Little Falls 0 Oct. .lohnson City Uct.
