He lets the door swing shut and darts his eyes behind him to see if he was able to shirk those people that had to tag along ... his family. “Maybe if I walk far enough ahead, no one will even know I am with them. Or I could just sit in the corner and turn my face away so people won’t see me. Just watch Susan spill her root beer again or Mom and Dad ask me to go play that new Lawrence Welk hit on the juke box. Maybe someday I’ll look back on this and laugh and think how stupid I was for not wanting my family along. But for the time being . . . Susan just asked the waitress if they have a fun meal like at Burger Chef. The Morris family gathers for a typical Gloucester reunion. 20
