A school. As you walk down a corridor there is a stern voice asking something about home¬ work. Up ahead you see a machine that’s projecting some¬ thing on a wall. A man is writing on this machine. As you get closer you notice it’s a good ole’ algebra teacher showing his stu¬ dents how to solve equations. Suddenly, from somewhere close by you hear a firetruck, or is it a bell? You notice a clock. It’s 2:50 and school’s out. That is for most people. After school is when things just get started. Outside, the football team prac¬ tices for an hour and a half while the fieldhockey team practices for their next victory. Inside, the cheerleaders work for perfection, while the band learns to play a new song. All of this hard work and more goes into our school. You don’t have to play football, fieldhockey, be a cheerleader, or play in the band to show school spirit. There are other things. The Beta club gets special attention for the good grades. Students in drama can travel around the state show¬ ing the skills they have. Where does this lead? Spirit starts at birth, but it comes alive at Gloucester High!
