It offers a varied curriculum and outside activities to prepare the student to take this step. Memories of high school are never forgotten. The Glea records these memorable events of the school year. Outside of correcting students in study halls and generally keeping them in line, there is a side of the faculty which most of us don't realize. The faculty is responsible for something far more important to man than even discipline- knowledge! The knowledge which a student gains in his high school builds a foundation not only for further education but also finds for him his place in society. And so it is to the faculty that we give our praise and thanks for a job well done. 4 i 7 V y ! A host of clubs, organizations, and sports encourage the student body to delve into extra-curricular activ- ities. There is one to match almost every talent, hobby, or interest. And if there isn't one existing, it can always be created. This year the Math Club and the Student Writers joined Glenwood's family of organizations. r l 10 The countdown is over. Finally the lunch hour comes. There is no more welcome sight than the cafe- teria-a roomful of hungry scav- engers, ready to devour just about anything in sight. The lunch hour is a break in the daily routine. It is the time to re- lax ones weary brains and enjoy forty minutes away from note-tak- ing and concentration. ixaxru y g vu' The 1961 football team established the best season's record since Glenwood's birth. With renewed spirit, talented foot- ball players, and a fine coaching staff, we hnished the season with a record of seven wins and three losses. One high spot of the season was a 15-I4 win over North Can- ton, spoiling an undefeated season for the Vikings. We are looking forward to an- other fine season next year. 1 13 4 V This year's basketball team supplied the student body and the community with many thrills and some surprising upsets during the season. Especially pleasing was their wonderful play during the Class AA tournament. They won the hearts of many basketball fans with the spirit and fight they showed in defeating Timken and Massillon before being edged by a tall McKinley Bulldog team. Congratulations to the team and coach for a fine season. HOME COMING 1962 Cheryl Ebert, Senior Attendant Marsha Schumaker, Senior Attendant Linda Sturrett, Junior Attendant Heidi Pfouts, Sophomore Attendant 17 Halftime festivities during the Springfield game were rather .special this year. Miss Patty Quinn was honored by the football team and the stu- dent body by being crowned 1962 Homecom- ing queen. Proud Dads escorted their daugh- ters, the Homecoming court, to a throne where they received gifts and plenty of cheers from the crowd in the Glenwood stadium. In order to avoid carrying that extra book home, some students will rush to get their homework completed, while on the other hand, there are those who regard study halls as a social period. 23 FACULTY -Q fm ,.',- ,Q1 13,1 1 , f 11 11 E-11,214 ig! 11-1" -1 3iPi2s?1s9??gG?ff22's1 v,,.. A Magi ADVERTISING AND PATRUNS Everything's changed but the name on the bearings In 1899, the first car equipped with Timkenf'9 bearings took to the road. Today, every American make of car but one rolls on Timken tapered roller bearings. And there's a new kind of bearing in today's power cars. It's the latest step in Timken bearing engineers' drawing board to drawing board partnership with the auto industry. It's a smaller, lighter bearing to cut unsprung weight. A more uniformly precise bearing to cut warranty costs. Capac- ity packed to take the heavier loads of today's luxury cars. These bearings are made of the finest bearing quality alloy steel available. And we know steel. We've been in the steel business for 45 years. In fact, we've developed and manu- factured steel for the transmissions and other vital parts in many of today's cars. Furthermore, Timken removable rock bits are helping to build America's highways for America's automobiles. Timken Company employees have an important part in the success and progress of the automotive industry. In keep- ing millions of cars, trucks and buses rolling trouble-free, in giving you economical, carefree driving, mile after mile TI 1.2155 Q after mile.
