Thesptctns Renovctte Little Theater The Thespians Club was formed to promote Theater arts at GHS to give more Tartans a chance to explore their talents in drama. Thespians also familiarized the student body with playwrights and their productions. What do Thespians do? They perform dramatic produc- tions, attend initiation and awards banquets and also attend theater productions. They have attended the Renaissance Faire and have sponsored fund raising projects such as drama- a-thons. This year, the Thespians have performed four dramas, See How They Runf' Cyrano de Bergeracf' Streetcar,,' and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forumf' 'ly N x '-'-1:1 .',,L - g -, l.lIIX ., Q ix!! Many improvements have been made this year by the Thes- pians. The dressing room, known as the 'igreen room was redecorated and reorganized for the convenience of the actors. Many parents helped to build permanent risers for the Little Theater this year. A light booth was also added and greatly enhanced the performances in the Little Theater on campus. Many Thespians were involved in this year,s activities - including four seniors, 17 juniors and 16 sophomores. The club is advised by Mr. Allan Gildard f2j. 9, 1. German lub Gains Mascot, T-Shirts I like being in a German atmosphere and participating in German activities, replied Denise Commentz, member of the German Club. The purpose of the club is to provide opportunities to speak German and learn about the German culture outside the class- room. At every meeting nearly 15 interested students were present. Throughout the year, club members participated in activi- ties such as, a Christmas party in December, an Apfelstrudel social and a Faschingsball. Compared to last year, the German Club has had a lot of improvements: they have a new mascot and their own I-shirts The officers of the German Club are Debbie Holland, presidentg Monica Wittenaver, vice-presidentg Jim Sim- mons, treasurerg Meredyth Munns, secretary, Paula Staschke, publicityg Tacy Winn, historian. The club is advised by Mrs. ,Iuliane Hodjera. 1. Carl Cardella, member of the German club, played Santa Claus for the night of their Christmas Party, while Peggy Brady told Santa what she wanted for Christmas. 2. Tacy Winn, historian, begins to load up the bus for a long day at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. 3. Skt, Radio-TV Clubs Attract GHS Students The goals of the Ski Club are, To encourage students to participate in healthful outdoor activity, introduce skiing as leisure time, teach students about ski safety, teach courtesy, and acquaint members with various ski areasf' commented Mr. Larry Johnson, advisor. The ski club during the year prayed for snow but mother nature wouldnit permit it, so their Thanksgiving trip to Mam- moth was canceled. Compared to last year, the ski club has come a long way. They have become affiliated with the San Gabriel Valley Coun- cil of Explorers, which helps set up trips and provides insur- ance for the students. 1. The president of the Ski club is Debbie Patino. She organized the club's activities through the year. ,455 , t This year GHS formed two clubs on campus into the Radio and TV Club. One of the many reasons the club was formed was to allow the students to learn how to operate a radio and TV station. One of the club's goals was to rebuild the TV studio with the new equipment received at the beginning of the school year. Throughout the entire year, the students were under the super- vision of Mr. Harry Smith, advisor. During the year, the radio club was very busy with many vivid productions, such as, football games, and password ffor the speech classjg they also taped for the band and drill team. Members said they enjoyed the club because they liked working with the sound equipment and enjoyed the thrill of seeing the results on television of a production that they directed. 2.
