Girls? League Contributes to rganizations Girls' League provides all girls with the opportunity to become involved in a club where they can help raise money for worthy organizations. A warm welcome was given in early September for the incoming sophomore girls when Girls League sponsored a swim and BBQ party to allow the sophomore girls to become acquainted with the older girls. That Christmas Feelingf, was the theme for the Girls League traditional Welfare Week, held during the week of December 13 through 17. The girls held a bake sale, a candy sale, and they delivered stocking grams and singing grams. Collections were taken and over 35850 was presented to the City of Hope. The Girl of the Month was a special award given to a girl who contributed the most each month to GHS. Girls League sponsored and presented the awards. The Valentines Dance sponsored by the club was held on February 10, at the Diamond Bar Country Club and the Whizz Kidds provided the music. Girls League is a club where girls can participate and con- tribute something to the schoolfi stated member Carrie Copeland, senior. .llllh Tams Serve School, Communit Tams is an honorary girls, club on campus which serves the school and the community. Belonging to the club depends on how active a girl has been in school activities. At Thanksgiving members of Tams decorated placemats and took them to convalescent homes. The annual fashion show was held on December 9, and the Senior Tams members modeled fashions from the Bridal Bou- tique and Windsor Fashions. Escorts were senior Key Club members who wore fashions from Mr. Tux, Karls Tux, Harris and Frank and Tuxedo King. The chairperson for the success- ful fashion show was Kimm Nasser. Members also helped the varsity baseball team deliver phone books and flyers to raise money. Every year the Luau is sponsored by Tams. The chairperson for this event was Julie Regan flj. Joann Turner, president of Tams commented, lt's great to see that so many girls are actively involved in a service club and participating in worthwhile service projects as a club, is very satisfyingf, The advisor for the club was Mrs. Debbie Lelewer. 2. X l'I Key Club Serves Community We want to develop initiative. leadership, ability. and good citizenship into each member. We also want to show to the community and school that we are here to serve youf, com- mented Nick Croce, Key Club President when asked about the goals of the club. With 34 members, this yearfs Key Club worked together to serve the community. ln October a Haunted House was spon- sored for children twelve years old and under. Members deliv- ered Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets to the needy. The YWCA Day Care center was painted by the Key Club. Thcy also played big brother to boys at Leroys Boys Home. They took first place in the Homecoming parade for their fly- ing saucer float 135, and second place in the Christmas parade for their float A Living Christmas. The highlight of the float was a human Jack-in-the-Box that popped out continuously GSW ii- wwj, xy., gp 42 ' lllllllll.. A, ..- ',.-1' .11 -1 -sv sa gil, during the parade. Every year the club raises money to sponsor a successful Christmas Dance. Selling fruit cakes was one of the fund rais- ers for this event. Only in Your Heart was selected as the dance theme. lt was held at Griswolds Pavilion in Claremont. Becket provided the music for the evening. Members of the club aided Tams, an honorary girls club on campus, with their annual Fashion Show. held December 8. The Key Club was formed in 1925 by the Kiwanis club so that Kiwanis could extend its service to the community. The advisor for the Key Club was Mr. Dave Griffith Q lj. 2.
